Pembroke Public Library is committed to providing equitable access to library service.

Accessibility Entrance

The accessibility entrance to Pembroke Public Library is located at the back of the building and can be easily identified from within the parking lot. A paved walkway connects this entrance to the front of the building so that patrons may approach this entrance from Victoria Street.

Elevator

The elevator in the Library is located in the accessibility entrance vestibule and connects all floors in the library. Operating the library elevator requires a key which can be obtained from any library staff member. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance operating our elevator, our kind and friendly staff are happy to ride with you if needed.

Home Delivery – Extension Services

Eligible residents of the City of Pembroke and the Township of Laurentian Valley can sign up to have library materials delivered to their home or retirement residence. Whether this service is required temporarily, seasonally, or long-term, Pembroke Public Library offers this service year-round. Click HERE to learn more.

Accessibility Equipment

The Library maintains the following accessibility equipment for public use:

  • Computers with built-in narrators
  • Computers with large print keyboards
  • A fully adjustable table
  • Magnifiers (digital and hand-held)

Accessible Collections

The library provides the following accessible collections for patron use:

  • Daisy Reader
  • Daisy Discs (to be used with Daisy Reader)
  • Talking Books (books on CD)
  • Large Print Books
  • Databases

CELA Collections & Services

Accessibility, Pembroke Public Library

If you have a print disability, we can register you with the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA). This Canadian organization provides access to published works in alternative formats for library patrons with print disabilities.
